Worktop Specialist York
If you are pricing up worktops in York, the choice of fabricator matters as much as the choice of material. A poorly cut slab or a missed install date will undermine the best kitchen design. Meridian is a Pudsey-based stone specialist supplying granite, quartz, Dekton, porcelain and exotic quartzite to homes and businesses across York and North Yorkshire, with every stage of the job handled by our own team.

Delivering The Best
Why York Homeowners Choose Meridian for Their Worktops
York is a city where kitchens vary wildly. A Georgian townhouse in the centre, a barn conversion outside the ring road, a new-build on the city edge, all need different handling. The thing they have in common is that the worktop is usually one of the last visible elements installed, which means any delay or error sits directly in front of the homeowner for weeks.
Meridian removes the most common cause of delay: the handover between supplier, fabricator and fitter. We do all three. Slab selection happens at our Pudsey showroom, fabrication runs on our own CNC machinery, and installation in York is carried out by our employed fitting teams. If anything needs adjusting after fit, the same business that cut it comes back to put it right.
- Single point of accountability from quote through to aftercare
- Templating to installation typically inside two weeks once the slab is selected
- Honest material advice based on how the kitchen will actually be used
- Full slabs available to view in our Pudsey showroom before you choose

Worktops York: The Materials We Stock and Fit
York kitchens lean towards two ends of the spectrum: heritage properties where the worktop needs to sit comfortably alongside traditional cabinetry, and contemporary builds where the surface is often the design statement. The right material depends on which end your kitchen sits at and how it gets used.
Granite remains the natural choice for clients who want a hardwearing stone with genuine character. It handles direct heat from pans, ages well, and suits both traditional and modern kitchen designs. Quartz, sourced through Silestone, Caesarstone, Compac and Vadara, suits buyers who want consistent colour, low maintenance, and clean modern finishes. Dekton is the material we recommend for any kitchen with an outdoor element, including BBQ areas and garden cooking spaces, because it handles UV and weather without fading. For showpiece islands and luxury renovations across York, exotic quartzite from Antolini provides the visual drama of marble without marble’s softness.
We have completed more than 15,000 kitchen installations across Yorkshire. That depth of experience means we can tell you honestly which material will hold up in your specific kitchen.

How We Deliver Worktops Across York
Our process is built around accuracy and predictability. Most York installations complete inside three to four weeks from first enquiry, with slab availability and your kitchen schedule being the main variables.
1. Initial Enquiry and Quote
Send through kitchen drawings or talk us through the layout. A written quote comes back within 24 to 48 hours covering material, linear meterage, edge profile, cut-outs, splashbacks and installation. For more complex York projects we will arrange a free site visit before pricing.
2. Showroom Visit and Slab Selection
Our Pudsey showroom is around 45 minutes from York city centre. Full slabs of granite and quartzite are available to view, alongside quartz and Dekton samples and completed kitchen displays. We strongly recommend a visit for natural stone because slab variation is significant. Engineered surfaces can usually be selected from samples and digital previews.
3. Laser Templating
Once your kitchen base units are installed, level and locked in, our templater visits your York property with digital laser equipment. The full template takes around an hour and produces millimetre-accurate measurements that feed directly into fabrication. Templating happens 7 to 10 days ahead of the install.
4. Fabrication on Our CNC Machinery
Cutting, polishing, edge profiling, sink and hob cut-outs are all completed on our own machinery in Pudsey. Every piece is checked against template before leaving the workshop for delivery to York.
5. Installation in York
Our fitters arrive on the agreed date, typically completing a standard kitchen in a working day. Larger projects involving islands, waterfall edges or commercial layouts may extend across two days. Worktops are levelled, sinks bonded, joints sealed and the area left clean before sign-off.
6. Aftercare and Ongoing Support
Written aftercare for your specific material is handed over on the day of installation. Granite includes a sealing schedule, quartz and Dekton cover everyday cleaning. We remain on call for any questions in the weeks or years afterwards.

Frequently Asked Questions About Worktops in York
Three to four weeks is the realistic window for most York kitchens, working back from your fitting date. Templating to installation runs 7 to 10 days, with the rest covering the quote, showroom visit and slab selection.
After. Base units need to be installed, level and secured before we measure. Templating to drawings introduces small errors that only become visible on the day of install, which is too late to fix without delay.
For granite and quartzite, yes. Visit our Pudsey showroom and we will set the slab aside in your name. For quartz and Dekton, batch consistency means a sample selection is usually sufficient.
Quartz and Dekton. Both are non-porous and never need sealing. Dekton has the best heat and UV resistance, which matters for kitchens with large windows facing south or for outdoor spaces. Quartz offers the widest pattern range.
Yes. Bars, cafés, restaurants and retail fit-outs across York and North Yorkshire. We handle larger nationwide rollouts too, and we schedule commercial installs outside trading hours where required.
We can disconnect, remove and dispose of existing worktops as part of installation day. Confirm this at quote stage so we factor in the time and protect access routes.
Manufacturer warranties typically run from 10 to 25 years. Silestone, Caesarstone, Cambria and Dekton all sit in that range. Our fabrication and installation workmanship is guaranteed separately by Meridian.
