Getting new stone worktops should feel straightforward from start to finish.
At Granite Worktops of York, we take care of the full process, from the first measurements through to fabrication, edge detailing and final installation. Whether you are fitting worktops into a new kitchen or replacing existing surfaces, our team will guide you through each stage and make sure everything is prepared properly before your stone is cut.

1 Consultation

We’ll discuss your project, materials, colours, finishes and budget, and help you find the right option for your space.

2 Quote

Send us your kitchen plan or measurements and we’ll put together a clear quote based on your chosen material and design.

3 Templating

Once you’re ready to go ahead, our team will visit your home and take precise digital measurements of your worktops.

4 Fabrication

Your stone is then cut, shaped and finished in our factory, including sink cut outs, hob cut outs and your chosen edge profile.

5 Quality Check

Before installation, we check everything carefully to make sure your worktops are finished correctly and ready to fit.

6 Installation

Our installers will return to your home and fit your new worktops, usually within 7 days of templating.

6 Key points you must know when we come to template

Units Must Be Fixed

Your kitchen units need to be fully installed, securely fixed and in their final position before we arrive to template.

Have Your Sink Ready

Please make sure your chosen sink is on site. We’ll need its exact measurements to make sure your sink cut out is right.

Have Your Hob Ready

Your hob should also be available on template day so we can accurately measure the opening required in your new worktop.

Don’t Forget Your Taps

Have your taps on site too. This allows us to check the correct position and hole size before your stone is fabricated.

Avoid Changes Afterwards

Once templating is complete, avoid moving units or making changes to walls or plastering around the worktop area. Even small changes can affect the final fit.

Think About Your Flooring

If your design includes mitred end panels or stone running down to floor level, ideally your finished flooring should already be in place. Let us know beforehand if it isn’t and we can advise you.

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take to install kitchen worktops?

Most kitchen worktop installations can be completed within the same day, although larger or more complex kitchens may take longer. We’ll let you know what to expect before installation day.

What do I need to do before my worktops are installed?

We simply ask that the kitchen and access into your home are kept as clear as possible so our installers have plenty of room to work. Your kitchen units should also be fully fitted and ready to receive the new worktops.

Will there be visible joins in my worktops?

This depends on the size and layout of your kitchen. Where joins are required, we carefully plan their position and finish them to make them as discreet as possible while maintaining a strong and secure connection.

Do I need a plumber for my new sink?

Our team can position and secure your sink as part of the worktop installation, but plumbing connections should be completed by a qualified plumber. We recommend arranging this around your installation date so your kitchen can be back up and running quickly.

Can I use my kitchen straight after the worktops are fitted?

We normally recommend allowing around 24 hours for adhesives and silicone, particularly around sinks and joints, to properly set before putting the worktops into full use.

Is fitting granite or quartz worktops messy?

Most of the cutting and fabrication is completed in our workshop before we arrive, so installation is generally very clean. There may be a small amount of dust from minor adjustments, but our team will always work carefully and respectfully in your home.

Is Florence Gold Quartz heat resistant?

Quartz is heat resistant to an extent, so hot mugs and plates are generally fine. However, placing hot pans directly onto the surface can cause damage over time. To protect your worktop, we recommend using a pan stand or heat rest for anything straight from the oven or hob.

Is Florence Gold Quartz scratch-proof?

Quartz is highly durable and resistant to everyday wear, but it isn’t completely scratch-proof. Repeated cutting directly on the surface can lead to light marks over time. For best results, always use a chopping board when preparing food.

How do I clean my Florence Gold Quartz worktops?

Quartz is easy to maintain. Just wipe down the surface with warm, soapy water for everyday cleaning. For tougher spills like red wine or coffee, clean up as soon as possible to prevent staining.

How much is a quartz worktop?

The cost of a quartz worktop varies depending on factors such as the size of your kitchen, the thickness and finish of the slab, and the style you choose. The best way to find out is to request a tailored quote based on your exact requirements.

Used between worktops, splashbacks and sinks to create a waterproof, flexible seal, colour-matched to your stone.

A stone-grade adhesive formulated for bonding and jointing quartz and granite — a joint that lasts as long as the stone.

Clear bond adhesive

A trade-strength adhesive that secures undermount sinks to the underside of your worktop, sealed watertight.

How long will the replacement take?

Most worktop replacements are completed in a single day, depending on the size and complexity of your kitchen.

Do I need to disconnect my sink, hob, or taps before you arrive?

Yes — plumbing and electrical connections should be disconnected by a qualified trade before our team arrives, and reconnected once the resin joints have cured.

Can you remove and dispose of my old worktops?

We can. Removal and disposal can be added to your quote, or we can leave the old tops with you if you prefer.

Will the replacement damage my cabinets or surrounding surfaces?

Our team works carefully to protect cabinetry, but note that removal of old worktops that are heavily bonded can occasionally need attention from a joiner afterwards.

What materials and edge styles are available for my new worktop?
