Florence Gold Quartz Worktops in a Beautiful York Cottage Kitchen

Some kitchens are all about making a statement, while others are about getting the balance just right between character, warmth and practicality.This beautiful cottage kitchen in York was a little bit of both.

Our customer chose Florence Gold Quartz for the kitchen worktops, bringing together warm tones, subtle movement and an elegant finish that worked beautifully with the character of the cottage.The kitchen itself had a U-shaped layout, along with a separate island style workstation featuring the sink. It was a lovely design, but the shape of the main run created a challenge when it came to fabricating and installing the worktops.We wanted to keep the finished result looking as seamless as possible, so we fabricated part the U-shaped section as one piece.

A seamless U-shaped quartz worktop

U-shaped kitchens can be particularly challenging when it comes to stone worktops.There are multiple corners, joins and angles to consider, and getting everything to line up perfectly is essential for a clean finished result.

For this kitchen, we were able to fabricate part of the main U-shaped worktop in one piece. This helped us achieve the continuous look our customer wanted, allowing the Florence Gold Quartz to flow naturally around the kitchen without unnecessary joins interrupting the design.It also meant the beautiful pattern and movement within the quartz could be appreciated across a much larger area.

Florence Gold is a fantastic choice if you are looking for a worktop that feels warm and inviting without being too overpowering.The natural looking movement through the surface adds plenty of interest, while the warmer gold and neutral tones work particularly well alongside the traditional features you would expect to find in a York cottage.It gives the kitchen a more considered feel without taking away from the character of the room.

And because quartz is both practical and hard wearing, it is a great choice for a busy kitchen that still needs to look beautiful.

A separate sink workstation

The separate workstation was another important part of this kitchen.The sink station was also fabricated from the same Florence Gold Quartz, keeping the material consistent throughout the space. We finished this section with a waterfall edge, allowing the quartz to continue down the side of the unit for a much more substantial and bespoke appearance.We also added drainer grooves to the right-hand side of the sink.It is one of those practical details that can easily be overlooked, but having the grooves machined directly into the quartz gives the sink area a neat finish while making everyday use much easier.

Finished with matching upstands

To complete the installation, we also fitted matching quartz upstands around the kitchen.Using the same material for the upstands helps bring the worktops and walls together, while providing a practical finish behind the worktop.It is a relatively simple detail, but it makes the whole installation feel much more complete. Protecting your walls from oil spills that may occur during cooking.
